Trading Conflict for Peace: How to have peace in the home.

My plate has been full. It is the end of the year after all! In saying that, I have to remind myself I am no super-human and need to consider balance constantly.

Yesterday I stopped to clear my desk, file finished agendas and re-priorities current commitments. The more regularly I do this the better.  It is difficult though – as a mum I mean. Yesterday was one of those rare but particularly stressful days where I needed to trade my not-so-well-started day for something re-energising!

I prayed and then invited my youngest daughter out of her bedroom to accompany on a sunny photo walk. She walked our dog along our street as I took photos of the neighboring gardens.  We didn’t go far before filling my camera with stunning images of God’s wonderful creations. We are spoiled with naturally beautiful visuals but all too often we wizz by the colour, pattern and texture around us. not this afternoon. It was entirely appreciated.

In keeping with my need to stop and do what was need to get a bit on inner peace I received my subscription email from Indulge magazine. Appropriately times was this brilliant article by Candice Schmidt on peace in the home. I recommend the read.

The last thing I did was to take some quite time once everyone in the hose was asleep and just play. Now I had found a way to restore a bit of inner beauty I tried to do the same for a few dead leaves that had been sitting in my studio waiting to be reborn.
