Not everything needs to change to be beautiful

Reflecting on a furniture transformation.

TRANSFORMED

Pushed aside
Not the image of before
Scuffed and neglected
Easily ignored

I saw her glimmer
Potential crying to me
I see you girl
You’ll be all you can be!

Gently taken aside
She disappeared a while
Later to return
Adorning a new smile

TRANSFORMATION & US

When working on anything creative I reflect on different scenarios in life or see life lessons or similarities during the process. They become precious little gems of reflection usually processed into diamonds of positive revelation, quotes, or aspirations.

This is one I’d think you would appreciate…

Pushed aside
Not the image of before
Scuffed and neglected
Easily ignored

BUILD ON BEAUTY

When transforming furniture or giving any object new life, it is NEVER completely new. There is always a parts of the original worth keeping. Parts that either need little or no work or that can be built on. We don’t discard EVERYTHING and begin again.

This was particularly the case with this console. She had a solid frame, beautiful shape and drawer fronts of beauty. But she was worn in all the ordinary places to the point of neglect. Before I got her she had had a few knocks that had taken pieces out and left the wood underneath exposed.

Furniture is an inanimate object, but relating to those I call “her” this way creates a love for the projects I work on and a passion to see the best transpire. In their original condition I almost feel sorry for them; for their sameness or neglect. Transforming them is like saving them so they can live in the hearts of others for another lifetime. I relate to it like the life gift at the cross. The most important part is that they are appreciated again, seen as individual and uniquely valuable. Bringing out the best in them proves EVERY piece has potential.

Can you see were I am going with this?

I saw her glimmer
Potential crying to me
I see you girl
You’ll be all you can be!

It is no different with you or I. Neglect can knock us around in our day-to-day living and take chips out of our hearts. We can be treated like we are ugly, invaluable, a commodity and finally discarded. We can loose hope of being once again beautiful in the battle of trials and harshness in all it’s forms. But the truth is very different.

The truth is that you and I have great potential, beautiful features to celebrate and build on and none of us are worth discarding. Our shine may have dulled but that is not because we are completely ugly, useless or a commodity. We are all intentionally God-created gifts to the world with potential. We need only find what that gift looks like in each moment.

Gently taken aside
She disappeared a while
Later to return
Adorning a new smile

Every creative moment, whether tin thought or action is an opportunity to see a beautiful vision and potential or anything or anyone you look at. Equally, every season of neglect does not mean nothing will change.

It may take the most creative minds to see the most unique potential but it first takes HEARTS to believe for change and a willingness of heart to take action to assist.

That was deep hey!?

But I hope it encouraged you to see the beauty in YOU, in what you do, and in others more. The world need more appreciation, innovation and faith to believe for better.

” Beauty isn’t in the eyes of the beholder.

It’s in the HEART’S INTENT “

NEO-CLASSICAL CONSOLE PROJECT

Her drawers where close to perfect. The decoration – stunning! With very little attention they where preserved as a main feature. The rest was filled, sanded, prepped, painted and sealed. The metallic reapplied similar to before but more antique. She is new again and ready to be appreciated as new. I didn’t give her a new personality. I simply took care of her and healed the broken places so she could stand in a new home confidently, loved by her next owner.
